Oh, c'mon....tell me you've never thought of unusual applications of new technologies before. Why just today I was thinking it would be neat to build a 1971 Citroen DS with a gas-turbine series hybrid powertrain utilizing the CVT trans and batteries from a Prius to drive the front wheels, and a secondary pure electric drivetrain out back to add another 100 hp when needed. The roof could be sprayed with CIGSS solar cell material as could the hood and trunk to add charging while the car sits, and reduce fuel consumption. A plug in option would also be there, and the car could carry a secondary battery set as the Prius pack is made up of flat sheets of D cells which could be cleverly hidden in the sides and floor of the car. Total power output would be around 300hp with around 2900lbs of curb weight. It would have the potential to be a 5 seat sedan capable of running high 12's in the 1/4 and getting 70+mpg. What's so odd about that?
