Ok it's been a while sense i've owned a chevy.
I was going to change out the flter in my th350 and went into the parts store to pick up the stuff. I went to the back and could not find dextron III trans fluid. he guy at the desk said to use this.. dex-merc

My questions are is that right? ( Not saying the guy didn't know, but I'll be damned if I f up my trans on his word, or what the computer said)
Also when did they change it to dex-merc? Leave it up to manufacturers to fix somthing that ain't broke.
Oh i went to 3 diff. stores and none of them have dextron III.

Thanks,Robert

Dexron 3 is the same thing as mercon which i believe is the ford name for the same fluid. As per the dexron wiki, "Fluids asserted by their manufacturers to meet Dexron-III standards continue to be sold under abbreviated names such as Dex/Merc, " so you should be ok. Most big manufacturers will list the standards supported by a given fluid on the back of the container.
