Does a differential girdle cover actually provide rigidity to a rear end over a stock stamped steel piece?

It will help with having the ability to put a preload on the carrier bearings, and maybe a lil more structural strenght for the cast pig itself. However it won't really help with the weakest point of the 7.5, the spider gears and axles.

on 99% of the axles out there---no
on the 7.5/7.625---yes but not much

I will be getting one for my 8.5 10 bolt that is dead stock except for the girdle, ring and pinion and the locker going in it. I will be running 10 inch slicks and i think one of them girdles would help.

I know the 28 spline axles I have should work just fine for what I plan on doing. The rear is a 7.625 monte ss rear with the stock auburn posi carrier and a Yukon 3.73 Ring and Pinion. I'm looking at the girdle cover to add some rigidity to the rear end, but also for more of a safety factor and piece of mind. I've had it rebuilt before and it held up well to everything I put it through, but I'm going to get it rebuilt again just as a safety precaution.
