It's hard to describe, but here goes - this is my first G-body, an 87 Cutlass 307 with 54k original miles. It's in awesome physical shape, but the engine gives off a "smooth" vibration that's in tune with the "glug-glug-glug" of the engine. It's slightly worse when the car is warmed up. My last 2 cars were a 4-cyl Saab and a 6-cyl Ciera. Neither of these cars had the same slightly bouncy vibration that my V8 has. I had a Mustang v8 that didn't rock as much either. Is this slight rocking vibration just part of the charm of owning a Cutlass? Or is there something wrong with my vehicle? Everything else works fine. Hope I described it OK...

Parked and idling, or when you're driving it?

If at idle, idk what to say.

But if it's while you're driving it could be several things. Start with getting your tires balanced. In fact, look under the car and see if there any mud built up on the back of the wheels, that can do it too. If not those, I think the brakes could be a possibility. Also, if your drive shaft is out of balance, or even bent, that could be the problem.

look at the engine. the motor mounts could be worn and allowing the engine to move. i guess that the harmonic damper could be bad too. IDK if that would cause enough to feel it, usually you hear it. or the engine could have some misfiring causing vibration.

Have the plug wires ever been changed? If not, try changing them. These engines should be pretty smooth when in good condition. It is what they are best at, idling smooth. Making power...not so much, but they sure can idle!
