im upgrading my mech fuel pump. somewhere i saw that stock put out 80gph but thats not true. stock only put out 40gph. so im getting a 80gph pump. and im running new 1/2 line and a fuel cell in trunk. now do i need to run a return line with a mech pump.

the one im getting has 3/8 in and out ports but it says u can plug up the out port if ur not running a return line. i just want to know if i need to run one. this is the first carbed car im plumbing for the street. my drag car i dont run a return line on it but i dont drive that thing for more than 15 or 20 min if i do drive it on the street.

my concern is vapor lock. i know on a electric pump street car setup u need a return so the pump dont overheat the fuel and cause it to vaporize. but will i have that prob with a mech pump. also im gonna use a reg set at 5psi. the pump is said to put out 80gph at 6psi

Biggest thing I can say. If it has a return line on the Fuel Pump, you have to use it. Dont be like me and block it off. And find out, that the ones with a return line arnt made to hold pressure and will bust the diaphragm and spin a rod bearing becuz theres fuel in your oil 🙁
