I've seen on some forums where they have a "regional" section, broken down into areas like "midwest" "southeast" "new england" etc.... and then maybe even broken down further by state. And yup, we have users in other countries so there'd have to be some accounting for that....

What do you think? Would it be beneficial or just take up a bunch more space in the forum list?

I'm on a couple of sites with regional sections...I know the Canadian regions don't get used very often and seems that only a couple others get any real "action". Maybe different here.

I don't think so. I don't even use the various forums, I just go to "recent posts" and see what interests me.

It would be interesting, but as others have pointed out, useage would probably be spotty. I've seen this feature on other forums, and some regional sections are used regularly, while others can be dormant for months. I'm kind of like Bonnewagon-I go to recent posts, and see what interests me.

I'm not sure it would get used much. I belong to some racing forums and the regional forums really only get used for track announcements and fighting. Sadly the events section here gets very little use.

I'm on the fence with this one... on another brand site, the regional was useful in getting together local meets, cruise ins, charity events,etc.. , but after a short while became seldom used...

I've always thought a regional section would be good in the for sale section. When I'm looking through a list of threads in the for sale section, it always sucks to find something I need, click on the thread, and find out it's 4000 miles away lol.

well, you're supposed to put the location in the thread subject (read the description!), but nobody does. It'd be a giant hassle to try and harrass every poster into doing it... so it goes un-enforced. Just putting your area code would be better than nothing, and its only 3 characters.
