Depends on the headers. Shorties are the most likely to work like that, but long tubes may also do it too. Only way to know for certain is to go ahead and try. You can always stop and pull it back out if it does not fit. The steering should not be a problem except maybe the shaft, and that's easily removed. It's a front steer car so they will not hit the center drag link.
I have the Edelbrock Shorties with Y pipe and I installed the engine/trans as a unit with the exhaust and all front accessory drives installed on the engine before installation. I also pulled the V6 out with the exhaust installed all the way back to the catalytic converter.
