hey everyone i was wondering if anyone knows where i can find a duel exhaust kit for a 1988 cutlass supereme? i was told this car cant be made true duel by my local muffler shop but i could sware ive seen it before. it would need to have room for cats as i need to keep cats on my car where i am. any info would be great

You can make it a true dual. The shop didn't have the skill to perform it.

Did they say why? I have a summit dual exhaust from the header back that was made for a factory crossmember. If you are close you can have it.

I used "pypes" header back exhaust in my Grand Prix and was very happy with it. Shouldn't be any different for the cutlass.

I agree with V8 Rumble, any muffler shop worth their salt can fashion a proper dual exhaust setup...or you can purchase a kit and do it yourself.

If the car needs to run thru cats, maybe consider a Monte SS setup where it comes out as a two into one, and comes out as duals with two mufflers and one cat.
No notching of X-members, or aftermarket X-member required.

Hurst/Olds and 442 had a similar dual exhaust from the cat back. I had the Hooker 2.5" cat back set up. I bought a compact X pipe and the muffler shop bent the front half of dual exhaust through the single hump.

It's likely not because they can't do the work but that they don't want to for fear of getting caught. If you are required to go through emissions testing then having dual exhaust is a big no-no even if you add a second catalytic converter. It would still be considered illegal.
Your best bet is to just run a cat back setup similar to the exhaust system that came on the 442's and H/O's and call it good.
