Does anyone have any issues with these headers clearing the TH350 transmission on the passenger side? Mine seems to be right up against the trans when we tighten it down. Has anyone else had any issues with these headers? The D/S header fit just fine.

Unless the Elky has a totally different frame than other G-Bodies, I have these exact headers on my 355 SBC in a Cutlass, with a TH350, & I had to bend the cooler lines a little to stay away from the headers, but not the trans itself.

only difference from the elky and others is behind the rear wheels is a bit longer. as with all headers patience and band aids will be needed. good luck!

i tried putting dynomax headers in my 78 el camino, nothing but problems, im impressed you even got the driver side in. i had everything out and the motor pulled up as much as i possibly could with a hoist. i bought a set of hooker competition headers and they slid in like they belonged there. im actually selling them if your interested, i bought a set of ceramic coated flow techs for my new motor. let me know if your interested.

well if it's too close then you will ithierhve to get spacers for the one side or use the old crowbar with a rag on the end to position it where you want it. maybe the pair you got were a fluke. se if there is a return policy and say the fit was not within the pamaters it should have been. no header should be rubbing the trans.

yeah i have these. they fit fine. are a little hard to get in there initially and i thought they were hitting some of the control arm linkage until i tightened it down and barely cleared everything under there by about a quarter of an inch. they are pretty much in the way of everything though.
and like someone else said. my transmission lines literally rest against them, i need to bend them.

make sure your transmission cooler lines aren't getting too hot - this can make your transmission overheat - i went to rubber lines to get them away from the headers

thats a good point. i kinda pushed mine to the side but they are still within like an inch of the header.

When they were originallyj ust resting against it I was thinking like......wow.....who's genious design was this? It probably would have been better off not even incorporating the transmission cooler in the first place. Thats just one more reason to swap to a manual in my opinion.

I have the ceramic coated dynomax's on my 78 and the first set I got from Summit had the collectors welded on wrong where they were bent in towards the transmission and I had the same problem as you. I returned them and received a second pair that actually fit very well and they had they collectors angled slightly away from the transmission which I suspect is how they should be. Maybe you received a set with the same problem as the original ones I had. It sucked having to send them back but it was easy....just took extra time.
