i need to vent a little. i sold a 500 dollar item on ebay, just got the bill for 52 bucks, 18 to paypal so i lost 70 selling the item. holy crap, i have been on ebay for 10 years, sold hundreds of items but not much the last 2 years... i dont think i will be using ebay much anymore, i can handle the 18 to paypal but the 10% to ebay, holy cow. and to top it all off the parts i sold the guy tried to say he never recieved them, i had direct signature on them, i told the guy that if he doesnt have them that somone signed his name and stole them and that we need to call the police, he never responded but gave me a positive feedback..... what is this world coming to?

Agree. Used to sell all the time on there, but the last couple of times I was trying/did sell parts (that no one wanted here, first), the relisting fees were unbelievable.

With the relisting fees, even if I had sold the items, I would have been in the hole, for paying the fees. Items didn't sell, so I was in the hole either way.

I will stick to craigslist, or forums specific to what I am selling.

im with you. i keep telling the spousal unit that i am gonna clean up shop with all the spare parts i have but the last 2 times i have used ebay i have had issues and now the fees are just nuts. forum and craigslist only from now on for me. sad cause ebay USE to be a great resource!

Same here, I've been moving a few parts since I semi retired, E Bay/paypal really rakes you over the coals. I've had better luck moving stuff on Craigslist and vehicle specific forums.

make sure you followup with ebay and paypal, and send them proof you delivered the product, some people like playing games and filing false claims... he should be protected by paypal, and so should you...

no worries now, as soon as i mentioned calling the police he must have mysteriously gotten them lol. paypal does not protect sellers at all, last thing i saw said that if you have to do a refund you are refunding shipping also....

eBay is a scam, period.
Same with PayPal... I'm reluctant to even use it on here.
There are ways to scam and get items for free from people that I'm not going to disclose, put it this way, PayPal provides NO seller protection what-so-ever... however you can very easily sue people and win and if the amount is over $500 criminal charges are involved.
Can't hide from small claims court or the law, I'm not afraid to call the authorities or use the 3 lawyers, 2 FBI agents and the one State Police Supervisor in my family to track people down either

Totally agree. Between ebay & paypal fees, it figures out to be about 14%. 10 years ago, it was about 5-6 % I'm reluctant to use ebay anymore because of their inflated fees.

I still occasionally buy on ebay but won't sell anymore. CL has been the way to go lately.
