Yeah yeah i know... to all you q-jet and holley guys. lol

It's a 1406 electric choke

It was definitely getting plenty of fuel, no problem there. but it would just hold the fuel until it dripped through really...

Tried tapping on it with a screwdriver handle in multiple places in hope of breaking a possibly stuck needle loose... no luck

When the engine was turning over and you hit the throttle, after a few moments, it would sound like it wanted to idle... in other words the throttle had a delayed reaction.

Ended up throwing a holley on it temporarily...

This is obviously to all you e-brock guys out there... any help is appreciated!!

Fuel pump diaphram allowing bleed back?

Sorry, you lost me on that one. Don't know what that is...

If it's say seven years or older it may need a rebuild. I've had mine for about 14 years and i had to rebuild it just twice. What happens is the internal parts gets gunked up with a white chaulky substance or residue from the mbte additives that they put in the gas. If it runs rough and doesn't idle i would say it needs a rebuild at least thats what mine did both times when it needed to be rebuilt. You could get lucky and spray carb cleaner in the venturi holes and the nozzles where the gas squirts out of. Here's what i found on the internet about the subject.
"If the car runs well except at an idle, the idle jets may need to be adjusted or are dirty. In this case, shooting carburetor cleaner through a plastic tube in the holes of the mixture screws will probably cure this problem. If the screws are taken out to clean the jets, install them 2 1/2 turns, then with the engine running turn the driver's side screw in until the engine slows down slightly. Turn it out just until the engine stops picking up RPM, and at that point turn the screw 1/2 turn further out. Do the passenger side, then repeat the process one more time".

Alright, gonna have to send the guy a pm to figure out how old it is...

So I can back out the mixture screws all the way and spray some cleaner in there??

Sprayed the whole thing down with carb cleaner... Put it on the car, started up as soon as I hit the key, but only ran for a few seconds. That happeed a few times in a row. it was late so I didn't want to mess with it and wake up the neighbors

Any ideas on the problem? Also what should I set the idle screws to?

If it runs but doesn't idle on its own i would say that it definitely needs a rebuild which is really not that hard to do, just $35 bucks for the rebuild kit and a couple of hours to do. As soon as i rebuilt mine and put it back on,it started right up and idled perfectly on it's own.

Got her dialed in now. Messed with the choke and the idle mixture screws too and she runs good cold and hot. Thanks!!
