what do you guys think the best place is to connect the positive wire on the electric choke?

Are you running on the computer still? If not, then use the F pin on the big connecter that goes to the ECM. Route the wire out through the rubber grommet where the ECM wires went out and plug it into the choke. No cutting or splicing required since you can install a factory pin on the end of the wire and it will just plug right into the connecter. No holes to drill through the firewall either.

The best place is to the choke feed wire that comes through the firewall at the bulkhead connector. It is fused and "on" with the key in "run". Unless your harness has been totally hacked up the wire should still be there. If your car is pre-'80 and had no choke wire then I would run a dedicated wire off the fuse panel from one of the switched 12 volt receptacles.

tee into the wiper motor harness. What's wrong with the one there now ??

I did that and added a relay underhood, somehow we wired it to the fan swtich the first time lol

Good you added a relay. The factory relied on an oil pressure switch to activate the choke so it did not remain on with the engine not running.

here are some pics of where my dad had the electric choke wired. it doesnt work the choke stays open all the time...

Kid, connecting the choke to the constant 12 volts will keep the choke open at all the time. Follow the above directions.
