Long story short. It's been sitting since '99 cause trans was slipping and I wanted to swap in a V8. I just want to get it back up and running now so I'm gonna postpone the V8. What I need to know is where I can find a good diagram of the emission system. I have a couple of diagrams from All Data and Mitchel, and I have the Haynes manual. But I was wondering if there was a diagram that had really good pictures, or even names of the parts that are on it.

I have a lot more to tackle than just this. First I need to get it running. Then have the transmission rebuilt. After that, I can start with the emission equipment.

My main concern is that I'm in California, and they are really strict here.

3.8L V6, THM350, 1981

I can give more info if it's needed.

Thank you.

Are they really that strict with a car that is almost 30 years old? If you get antique plates you won't have to worry about emissions

Yes they are that strict, CARB sucks. 75 AND newer still reqire smog ,and all factory equip. Antique Plates limit how much you can drive it . :blam:

Maybe I can be of some help. Kinda of going throught the same thing you are.
I have an 85 ElKO 305, for for over 20 years now. The 85 and some other years
are considered gross polluters by Ca and it just barley past last year.

So I jerked out the 305 and put in a 04, LS1 and 4L60e trans out of a GTO and so
now I have to deal with the CARB referee.

But I do remeber the hhokups on the 305. So if I can be of any help let me know.......
