Im currently working on putting a SBC350 in my 83 Cutlass.I bought a set of Energy Suspension block mounts for the motor because i have shorty headers and was worried about clearance..My question is what kind of frame mounts am I gonna have to use now so i can drop the motor in? Will Clamshell frame mounts work w/ the E.S. block mounts?Do i gotta use something like the Trans-Dapt solid frame mounts for a Monte carlo SS?

The ES mounts I have seen (but do not use) are designed to be used in the factory clamshells. No need to buy solid mounts. You will need to grind or drill the two halves apart to change the biscuit.

OK,thanks...So i need to buy the ES biscuits and the GM clamshell mounts right? its not hard to change the biscuits is it?

I have never had to separate the clamshells, so I don't know. I bought my mounts with the biscuits and clamshells already assembled and used the stock mounts because they do a very good job as is. Unless you have a clearance problem or a pretty stout engine there is no real advantage to the poly mounts over stock rubber. The clamshells serve to limit engine movement fairly well and in my opinion, negate the need for a torque limiter strap-at least in my application. If you have a mild street engine, the only difference you will likely notice compared with rubber is an increase in the amount of vibration transmitted to the chassis, and to you as an occupant.
