I’m possibly looking to have a engine shipped down to NC from Illinois. Does anyone have any recommendations on shippers and the best way to go about shipping it? I would assume crating it would be the best way? I can send it to my work where we can unload it on the dock with the forklift which I think would help? Any insight and input appreciated from anyone that has shipped one before

Look into Fastenal 3PL service. The seller would need to crate it secure, drop off at their local branch, then it will travel to the hubs before coming to your local store. Fastenal has a hub in INDY and in NC so it would likely be a 1 week trip.

Looks like there are 2 or 3 near the Illinois location. I have a fastenal right down the road from my work. I have heard of people using them but i haven’t shipped with them. I’ve never shipped a engine so it’s new to me

I managed a branch for them for a couple years, loved my job but my District Manager and I didn't get along. Pricing is super reasonable too....I shipped a fiberglass cowl hood from Louisville, KY to Minnesota for like $65. Obviously an engine weighs more, but you can go on their site and enter the stuff for a quote. MAIN THING, AND I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH IS TO SECURE THAT BISH SO IT CAN'T MOVE!!!!!

That would be disaster if it moved 4.1s aren’t the easiest thing to find in my neck of the woods

I say that because Fastenal has been known to ding up a thing or two. Yeah it happens everywhere, but as long as it's clearly marked Fragile, Do not Stack, etc and it's strapped down tight to a pallet it would be fine.

Sounds easy enough I would think if it’s secured to the pallet well and crated it would be ok
