i am buying a 1979 el camino and it has a 305 carb. and i was wanting to swap it out and put a 4.3l carb in it and then stroke the 4.3l and i was wondering if it is a good idea cuz i want the 50/50 weight ratio and the fuel economy of a v6 but also have performance as well if you can help ut would be great. thanks.

Those 4.3 V6's don't get very good gas mileage to begin with, probably the same that the 305 would get.
If you want 50/50 weight distribution, throw some sand bags in the bed.
