Hey guys, I was wondering if some of the more knowledgeable guys could give me a rough estimate of the Horse Power my engine is making. Its a around an 84 or 85 chevy 350. I am like the 5th owner of the engine so i dont know all the specs. of the cam or heads, but it does have a mild cam, and the heads have larger intake and exhaust valves. I was told by the last guy they were double hump heads and probably make around 8.5:1 compression. I am running true duals with no cats, or any other kind of emission control crap. Thanks!! Oh yeah, and a 600 edelbrock carb.

Oh yeah, just something i was curious about. Does anyone have any idea what kind of rear ratio a 76 cutlass with a 350 ( non rocket) has??

I'm going to take a guess and say your in the 200-250HP range.
But that's an absolute guess. You can't really get an idea what the engine is making without more information about the internals.
Have you ran the car at the dragstrip? If so what was it's time?
You could also take it to a chassis dyno which will give you the wheel HP and you can calculate what the flywheel HP is.

Hey guys, I was wondering if some of the more knowledgeable guys could give me a rough estimate of the speed my dog is making. Its a around an 2 to 8 year-old male. I am like the 5th owner of the dog so i dont know all the specs. of the father or mother, but it does have a long tail, and the ears have been cropped. I was told by the last guy he has big lungs probably average strength legs. I am feeding him real meat with no cats, or any other kind of healthy crap. Thanks!! Oh yeah, and a short, curly coat.

 I'm just messing with you a little. Sorry, but it is impossible for anyone to be able to answer. In stock form 350 Chevys were rated as low as 145HP (maybe even lower) and with the wrong combination of parts can make it even less. On the other end of the spectrum the sky is the limit. If you don't know any history, the best you can do is run the head casting numbers and the application code which is stamped on the pad in front of the passenger side head next to the water pump. Not knowing the cam specs is a huge variable. Every little detail makes a difference right down to the spark plug part numbers and thermostat temperature.

LOL....ya thats why i was saying a ROUGH ESTIMATE. I know it was very vague. FE3X clone, thats what i was thinking, somewhere in the 2-250 range. No i havent taken it to the strip, even if i did, ive still got the little 2.41's. As far as dynoing, i have no idea where i could get that done or the cost.

Looks like that's the closest one to you.

I know around here the cost is something in the $75-$150 range for three pulls without tuning. If you want them to tune the car, it goes up from there.

No problem. It is a pretty fun experience. I went along with my brother when he had his Mustang dynoed. I think he paid around $200 but they were tuning the car since he had just put a supercharger on it:
