I've been wondering about this for a while, can the euro clip font be fitted with a plexiglass cover - like in this pic?

If so, how would one go about connecting the plexi to the fiberglass/plastic? Can you tell if the lights have been recessed? It looks like a modified later euro clip with 81-86 lights, right? I would like to rework the front clip of mine, just checking if anyone knows about this modification, thanks for input.

well i wish i could answer your question but it is a very cool look, i haven't seen that before

I've been looking for a cheap front piece at junkyards, but the selection around my area is so limited, and most of the euros have already been stripped

Once I find one, will attempt the plexi cover, but I have a feeling it's going to be hard and time consuming to connect to plastic/fiberglass - whatever the clip is made out of.

euro

how much do you want to spend on one and where are you located? I have a couple front clips laying around, both euro 87 style.

Houston area, I've seen some ratty ones on ebay for 250$. At a junk yard I could get one for half that. I know most people are charging over 300$.

Right now I'm concentrating on the engine, so I'm just inquiring to see if this mod could be done, and how is the best way to go about it. So in a few months I'll probably be posting on here asking if anyone has a euro front. (..but if the price is right - could you send a pm?)

So hows the engine cool if the grills are covered?on the same note not to hijack:does anyone know where to get headlight covers for a 87-88 monte ls?

This mod is for aerodynamics and the 'look', you could cool the engine in a number of ways - the first which comes to mind is a functional cowl induction. It will have enough air over the radiator - if you note the fiberglass has been chopped and leveled between/under the grille for more air.

Another way to cool would be a cold air intake or ram air from the front fenders/bumper.

I remember seeing posts a while back for headlight covers, try making a new thread in this section or parts one - you'll get more replies for it.

pontiac man - you were right, good call

I just received an e-mail from Angelo Valenti, the guy who owns the car. He says Bill Porterfield had fits with GM to allow the plexi over the panel. It wasn't street legal and restricted air flow at higher speeds. It is riveted to a modified 85 Calais front clip, lights and all.

As I said before, the center piece was cut and smoothed. He says the header doesn't provide enough support for the plexi and the original has stress cracks in it with only 2000 miles.

Call me clueless, but I will make a go at this in the next few months or next summer. I'll cut out the entire grille section and put in mesh or something, with plexi only over the lights. I will also need to support it with brackets from the inside so it doesn't crack. If it looks too ridiculous, it's back to the old header - and all that time/effort wasted 😛
