so just got the 403 in my grand prix. im wanting to use the stock manifolds. is there a y pipe i can buy and just block the inlet tube on the pass. side?
I've been using Y pipes as donors for my dual exhaust stock Pontiac manifolds for years. Now I find that there are NO Pontiac Y pipes to be had. Duals, stainless even, there are plenty of. I hope you have better luck with the Olds pipes.
Don't know if you found a fix here yet. Your local parts stores usually have short patch pipes with a flange right on it you'll need a 2 inch one. Get a steel soft plug that fits tight in the end and mig it in and your done. A local exh shop can make this part easily. I have an exhaust shop and did alot of these. Your best bet though is to pick up a set of W-Z manifolds, you can still buy these pretty reasonable. I lucked out and got my set for $200 bucks in like new shape. There are no clearance issues with these, I'm runnin a 455 in my Cutlass with a 403 your golden. You can use the front section of the left pipe from 68-72 442 right to the crossmember, right side is pretty straight forward, one bend to the crossmember. Hope this helps. John
