Restoring an american car in Norway is getting to be quite a challenge because of minute details.
Ever since I aquired my car over a decade ago, the exhaust has always been leaking one way or the other. Now I removed the heat riser addon from my passenger side manifold (see thisthread), and ordered the flange gasket that was listed on RockAuto for my engine (WALKER Part # 31413).
Now granted this was a bit of a leap, since I don't know where my exhaust manifolds came from. But the gasket was listed spanning the years and engine of my car (late 70s 350 VIN-R Olds).
And lo and behold, the leak is just roaring from the manifold-to-exhaust hook-up. And the quest for a quiet, deep V8 sound is driving me insane!
My passenger side manifold is stamped 22506300 RH. Anyone able to tell me where they are from, and if my gasket is correct?
The flange on the exhaust pipe might be the culprit as well since the shop that made it made some off handed remark that he didn't have "the exact" flange tool, but that it should work once it was clamped together. As I said - old american cars in Norway (and a beginner mechanic trying the best he can) 🙂
Any help in reducing the number of leak factors would be appreciated.
