Hey everyone. I was just wondering how the prices are in other places for cheap duals.

I went today to get an estimate at Minute Muffler. To get new pipes from the manifold, over the rear and out behind the muffler. For mufflers I just said the cheapest glass packs they had.

The price (not including chrome tips) was a little over $600. That sounds kinda pricey to me, since I got the same system done 2-3 years ago by the same place. And it only cost $430 including chrome rolled tips.

So what do the shops near you guys charge for a similar system?

I got the pypes, race pro 2 1/2" header back system, with x pipe and SS style tails on sale through Summit last summer for like $325 and it's stainless with all the clamps and hangers. For that price I was also able to afford a G Force for less then a local shop could have cut and spliced some glasspacks in. Hard to beat the price, just checked...$309.95

I got the SGG12R

I have true duals put on my El Camino a few years back for around $400. A $600 price doesnt sound all that unrealistic nowadays. Get a quote or two? I like the idea of putting in one of the kits but sometimes you'll spend the same and have to do the labor yourself.

My plan is to but the pre-bend tails from Torque Tech and a Magnaflow X-pipe and mufflers, then take it to a shop and let them build a system around that.

That is a good price, how was the fit? I've heard mixed reviews on the Pypes systems.

That was only the first quote. I plan to try a few more places.

I'm not looking for anything over the top. It's just a stock 305 (44,000 kms). I plan to get a better system and a dual cross member when I get the new motor. But that won't be for a year or two. Hopefully some of the other places will have a better price.

I've been running the same true duals for over 5yrs now on my Monte. I paid the guy $200 and a case of Bud for the job. Now I want an X-pipe and non chamber mufflers, but for what it is, its got a lot of life left in it. Point being, get the x-member and get it done right the first time. That way when you upgrade the engine, you're able to still run that system w/o having to sink more $ into a new one.

I would like to, but I have to many things to buy and get done all at once lol. I was hoping to get an x-member just for that reason. But I don't think I'm gonna have enough cash left for it lol.

The pypes system fit great wit a little trimming on the front two pypes. The whole system consisted of 9 pieces not counting collectors, headers or all the hardware. You can pick up this system, the crossmember and a cheap set of headers for less then some exhaust shops will charge to run it all up one side.

$150 for duals at one of our local shops. probably sound like a can of rice though. i paid around $700 for headers back to mufflers but technically it's not legal cause i have no cats  so i was willing to pay a little extra money to get that done
