every time i crank my car, the dog on smog pump squells! then after it heats up it stop. what do i need to do to remove the factory smog pump off of my completely stock 85' olds 307? and what do i need to plug in the lines...?

or check yer belt tension(sp?) :blam:

If you are looking to remove the smog pump and A.I.R. lines, its pretty simple. You should be able to get the flared plugs to go into the manifold holes at your local NAPA store  Take your lines with you so they have the size to match the plug to  You will also have to measure your pulley system for a new belt

I fixed a supposedly unfixable seized up 80' Monte Carlo smog pump by opening it up and soaking it in WD-40 and forcing it to turn with a hammer. After a few rounds it broke free, I turned it more with more WD-40 until it turned smooth, and it never made a peep ever again.

Take a pair of cutters and snip the belt. Problem solved.

If you later want to clean the engine bay up and make it easier to change spark plugs, you can remove the AIR manifolds and put plugs in their the place.

The problem with just cutting/removing the belt is that eventually the red hot exhaust gasses will defeat the anti backfire valves and then exit at the smog pump. Complete removal and plugging the ports is the best way to go, unless of course you just fix it.
