I was wondering where the difference lies between the base (softer) springs and the F41's, specifically the appearance? For example, the base springs on my 1986 Buick Regal Limited have about 4 coils, and the F41 springs I have do too. Also, it appears the coil diameter is the same, but I haven't taken the old ones out yet to compare and make sure. I have also seen some F41's for sale on eBay and they look the same as well (???).

The reason I ask this is because I am getting ready to put in some (supposed) low-mileage rear F41 springs, and I want to make sure this isn't a wasted effort, if for some reason what I have as replacements are not actually F41's. I was told they were off a 1984 Monte Carlo SS if there is differences between years. I don't have any reason to doubt the person who sold them to me, but I just can't get over how similar they look. Any help would be appreciated.
