I'm familiar with this one

BUT, I see there's this kind too. Anyone used this style? To me it looks like it would bend the sh*t out of everything if you're not careful. We're looking at $150 vs $40 so I have to ask if anyone has experience with it.

no experience but your obviously better off with the 150$ tool

i believe yer supposed to use a heat gun with the bottom one to make the paint soft so it doesnt crack as you "roll" the fender. type fender rolling in you tube and youll get some ideas on how its supposed to be used.

You're better off using a heat gun with both actually. I know how they work, just curious what people have to say about the bottom pic. It looks like it would do more damage than good

I don't think you'd have proper clearance to use the bottom tool.
You're "supposed" to use a heat gun with the tool (both of 'em) but it doesn't matter if you're gonna paint the car.
Get the first one, and when you roll your fender, it's not a 5 minute job. Make sure it's on in the right position and snug/tight, roll a few times. Loosen, reposition, roll again. Heat in between. It's a process that takes several hours.

When I did mine I over did one, used a little too much brute force because man it was tiring. Using too much force is not good, because what it did, was the side of the fender began to cave it a little bit (as opposed to the lip just rolling up, which is the desired effect). You don't want this to happen. Set aside an entire day for each fender you need to roll -- this will put things in perspective and save any disappointment.

By the way, I rented mine for $300. If you can buy it for $150 that's a great deal!

I kinda figured it would be a tedious process if you want to do it the right way. When I came across that other tool it just seemed like it wouldn't be very effective. For the $150 price tag of the first one, it would probably be cheaper than paying someone to do it anyway. Thanks for the response.

Actually, if I had to do it again on a g-body... I'd probably use a hammer. No joke.
