Is there any step by step tutorials around showing how to actually repair body parts and panels including:

tools used
material used
procedures in performing the repairs?

Usually in the back of the haynes repair manuals there is a section devoted to body repair and how to's. These instructions are generally vague and I wouldnt rely on just those. Best bet, go to a local body shop and ask if you could observe some work being done or if you were around KY in a few weeks you could come watch me finish up the regal. Best bet is to get with someone you know that does body work or talk to a few shops and observe. They might even let you try some body repair on some junk panels they have lying around. I learnfrom my father and my uncles who have had years of street rod building experience and that has proven invaluable to me. Then again there is still stuff that I learn by trial and error. Hope this helped you a little and sorry for the rant.

Car Craft and Popular Hot Rodding ususally have pretty good articles on the basics this time of year. But instructions will only get you so far; it takes a lot of patience and practice to perfect it. I recommend practicing on a few panels from other cars first. When I was in school for auto body, we were each issued a fender, and the instructor came around and smacked each one with a lead pipe. Once we got it smoothed out, he did it again, so on and so forth.

That's just awsome 😀 I can picture that. "Hmm. Looks pretty good. (pause). WHACK!!"

Bet he enjoyed that 😀
