I just had a 9 inch buit for my cutlass but I allready had 28 spline hardened moser axels so I got the detroit locker for 28 spline. My question is the guy building my hog head tried getting me to go to 31 spline. I decided not to because I thought for my set up I would be good plus didnt have the money for the upgrade at the time. Car may see track once in a while but for the most part just street. When I do hit the track id like to see mid 11s. Chevy 383 5-8 lbs. boost vortech supercharger aprox hp 500-550 .B&M 700r4 2500 stall 370:1 ratio . Any input would be appreciated. thanks

you can always upgrade the axles and center section later on.

Your not making enough power to really be worried yet.. Ive seen and know people running 8.5 rears with 28 spline going low 10s

The best part about the 9" is the removeable center section. You can swap them out fairly easy. and with you changing the axles and center section its just a little bit more work.

My 9 inch came with 28 spline axles when I bought it 7 or 8 years ago.I've abused it a time or two and no problems so far.
