As I am scrolling around on CL, I found this, a ford 9 in set up for a g body. My car needs a rear, or it needs its current rear rebuilt (current rear non-posi, beat to hell and back). And for $200! My question, is it worth it, if I have it rebuilt, or rebuilt it myself? Does it look like its gonna need rebuilt? Any questions I should ask the seller, besides is it posi, gear ratio , degree of rebuild it needs, how long it's been sitting? If all goes well, we could be looking at a 110 hp, 2 bbl V6 hooked up to a ford 9 inch!

To me it looks like it’s pretty wide, (width on a stock G Body rear end is 58” wheel flange to wheel flange). I would definitely measure before I spent money on it. You would also want to check whether the bolt pattern has been changed (Ford is usually 5 on 4 ½ or 5 on 5, and the G Body is 5 on 4 3/4).

Regardless you will need a custom drive shaft.

Just some things to think about.

Not a lot of info or pictures. I would first want to know who set up the rear end for a gbody since no name was given, if someone just slapped on some brackets without setting up proper angles you will have all kinds of issues.
And I would question why are one of the lower control arms adjustable and the other not.
Find out if the case is nodular or standard.
I would want to know if it has factory or aftermarket axles, spline count, gear size, what it has as a carrier etc.
If it has a nodular case and the rear is set up properly for a gbody then you can't go wrong with that price.

I got my 61 inch wide 9 inch with disc brakes and a locker for $160. But it has a 6.xx gear ratio. The brake's are GM and the axles have been drilled to 5x4.75.

My buddies dad is going to weld the brackets on for me, he's supposedly done like 9 or 10 into g body's so hopefully he knows what he's doing.
