I found an 8.5 from a 70 Chevelle. I know I would have to change all the brackets. But if I can get it got the price they're asking it will be well worth it. I know it's a little bit wider than the G-body rearend. The G-body rearend is 52.125" and the Chevelle is 55.250". I'm not really concerned about the difference. I was gonna have to put 2" spacers in the rear to get my rims on anyway. Is there anything I missed or forgot? They say the gears are 2.73.

I believe the 12 bolt rear ends are around 4-5" wider than your stock rear end, flange to flange your rear is 57 5/8" wide. the chevelle is 62 1/2" i think. this can be made to work ok with proper wheel backspace.

but the suspension stuff needs to be placed correctly too... i can be costly
