So i've been looking for a 68-72 350 olds with #5 or #6 heads for a while and finally this has came out on craigslist it is 150 miles away but if it is worth it I am willing to take the drive. I will be replacing Motor Mounts, Headers, Starter, AC Compressor, Carb, Intake Manifold, and supposably 307 parts are interchangable with 350s so my 307 Fuel pump is a month old, alternator and water pump are also fairly new.

Im not planning on rebuilding it just yet, maybe begining 2010 I will be able to try and get a full rebuild.

What should I look for if I do buy this motor and is $350 dollars worth it I can probably talk him down to 300...Maybe.
Do you think its worth the drive?
How much power is expected from this motor after I put a holley 650CFM carb.

All suggestions welcome. Thanks

You'll be hard pressed to find a 71-72 motor with those heads. 71s used #7, 72s used #7a (not to be confused with the 7A heads on the 307).

I will be replacing Motor Mounts, Headers, Starter, AC Compressor, Carb, Intake Manifold,

Use the 307 motor mounts on the 350

and supposably 307 parts are interchangable with 350s so my 307 Fuel pump is a month old, alternator and water pump are also fairly new.

307 and 350 are externally identical. Everything interchanges, though I would NOT use the crappy tubular exhaust manifolds from the later 307s. Early cast iron 307 exhaust manifolds are OK. Also, the A4 intake is OK, the A5 is a doorstop. If you use the 307 accessory brackets, be sure to use the water pump and pulleys from the 307 also.
