I live in NY, so a front license plate is required, but they ruin the look of a Monte SS. Has anybody done anything other than put them right in the middle of the nose?

Sorry to say that is about the only place to mount one without some fabrication, though I saw one with the plate zip tied to the grill not a good look plus your blocking the already limited airflow.
If you don't want to drill holes in your front end you could fabricate a bracket and have it mount to the bumper support or front frame and have it come out and up in front of the spoiler, if you use something around 3/16" thick metal it wouldn't have to be that large to support the plate plus you could make a separate bracket that holds the plate and bolts to your newly fabricated frame bracket.

There was a guy on montecarloss.com that made a run of plate mounts that mounted to the front bumper shocks. Then you could remove part of it to remove the plate at shows.
Wouldn't be hard to make something like that if you can weld.

I used some thin sheet metal...made a couple of tabs that would hold the plate down below grille....didnt look factory, but it worked. I used a frame for the plate with a plastic cover that I got at AZ...worked pretty good.

Some states (OK is one of them) will cite you for anything covering the plate, even clear plastic.

Knew a trooper in IA that wrote lots of citations for license frames that coverd the county of issue. Was his "peeve". Another one that wrote for driving with only parking lamps on, and he wrote a lot of them.

I forgot about those removeable mounts. Maybe I'll fab up something similar

Get historical plates  In Ohio you dont have to use a front license plate with historical plates but obviously your car will stick out to cops so its not really worth it

This is what I did. A standard license plate mount, with some small aluminum angle brackets, and stainless steel fasteners. After several years, it's still solid, and no tickets.

Im glad we dont gotta have our plate in the front. Though we still cant have anything covering it. I heard the reason behind that is because if u put plastic over it and the camera catches u running a light, the plastic would reflect the light and doesnt catch your plate ID.
