hi, i posted not too long ago in regards to rear rim and tire sizing. i ended up using a set of prostars 15x8 4.5 bs and a bfg 275/60/15 drag radial. they fit and look nice. now its time for the front.

i need to pick up some more prostars, and i need to get some opinions before doing so.
i would LIKE to use 15x6... is this a common size used around the gbody?
if not what is a popular front rim width ( using a 15" diameter ) and if a 15x6 works, what is the appropriate backspace? and what tire size will work best?
im looking to use bfg traction radial ta's 205/70/15 if the 15x6 rim works out.
i just dont want the front tires to look like skinnies, however i do want them to fill up the well nicely.

factory used 15x7s. They are not too wide or wide looking especially with what you have in rear just better cornering. Factory used them with 215/65/15. Many have as I do on two of mine use them with 235/60/15s same height 26.0 & 26.1. I have used them with 275/60s on 15x8s on my 442 and my GN. Not pro touring look but with the thicker factory sway bar, new end links, decent springs like the 442/GN/MCSS spring or the Moog 5660 etc they corner well and have a nice stance/look and are not a big buck setup.

Only if its really dramatic. 26.1 up front and 28.0 in the rear gives it a LITTLE rake and a good stance. I would probably not do much more than a 2" difference.

"does having unequal tire height make the car look/ stand funny?"

All depends on your taste.

Right now my 83 Wagon has temporary 225/60 front and 275/60 BFGs on it.

Has a little of the "Big and Little" drag race looks while still driving like a normal car ( vs front skinnys).

Normally runs, 235/60 front and 255/60 Yokohamas.

With the Yokos , the fronts are 1" shorter and 1/2" narrower, looks great to me.

One thing to keep in mind with tires of a difference of over an inch is your
spare.

I forget the exact size( not going to pull the rear carpet to find out), but
my spare falls right in between the 2 diameters so it can be used on both ends of the car.

Also remember you only get 1/2 of the tire height change. A 1" taller tire only raises the car 1/2".

I am toying with running some 17" up front, maybe 225/40x17 with the 255/60 on the back.

It will then have the big/little looks AND handle. We will see, I have not sold myself on the idea yet.

Oh, the Cutlass in the picture below has 205/70 on a 15x4 rim.

thanks for the ideas and input.

im not going to have a spare anyway.
i think i will be running 235/60/15

my last question is what back spacing is used up front with a 15x7?
