My front driver's side rotor is "floating." The only thing really holding it in place is the caliper, and it is clamped down by the brake pads. So, that small surface area is all that is mounting my moving wheel/ tire. The hub of the wheel and rotor is resting on a small nub, but nothing is locking it down there. I noticed this when I was changing brake pads..Please, someone help, because I'm pretty sure something is missing here.

Small nub? Sounds like you lost the end of the spindle, nut and all. Can you see threads? Maybe the outer bearing froze and broke the end off. Here's what the guts look like inside, plus a cotter pin holding the castelated nut from loosening.

Thanks, guys..I will have the wheel back off tomorrow maybe, and I'll take a picture to show..Hopefully it isn't something that is terribly expensive to fix.

Either the cotter pin/nut came off somehow, or the spindle broke. Spindles are common and cheap.
