i have a normal/stock fuel pump on my 403 with a 750 holly carb, the car wont run (4000 rpms car will seem to sputter) right cant get all my power , was told i need a large fuel pump or (high volume) fuel pump for it to work right. however the big fuel pump seems like it wont fit not enough room under the alternator. any suggestions or anyone else have this problem?

A normal/stock fuel pump will easily handle 4000 rpm's. You might have a problem elsewhere, like bad carb tuning, timing way out of whack, or an ignition problem.

I've never used anything other than a stock fuel pump, so I can't comment on fitment of a bigger pump.

thanks for the input, the 403 is bored out has a comp cam and a few other upgrades will this make a diff? or the stock fuel pump still be fine ?

i checked the fire in the car its an orange color. i thought the fire should be blue? could this be my problem and what will cause it?any advice would be appreciated thanks

have you checked your fuel filter lately ....

your pump should be enoigh , but maybe it's weak ...if it;s over 10 years olds id switch ...cheap insurance anyway !

check your fuel line if rusted out , the pump might pull some air
