I am installing an S10 diff in my HenryJ but need to widen it and have both tubes( about 12" long) and axles from a G body housing . Would someone be able to give me the measurement from inside to inside of the plate that holds the backing plate?

17 7/8 each side from the center section joint to the plate.
51 1/2 is closest measurement inside to inside with a slight deflection due to the center section.
Measurements were taken on both my 79 and 88 Monte Carlo's
Hope this is what you were looking for.

How much wider do you need? A '98 - '02 F-body rear axle is wider, has disc brakes, and can often be found with a Torsen differential. Or, you could look into a B-body axle with an 8.5" differential.

The G body is about 1" wider than the stock HJ diff which is a good fit.
