I thought it was time I joined your club. I am the owner of a 1978 Pontiac Grand Lemans & a 1981 Pontiac Lemans.
I purchased my 78 Grand Lemans when I was 15 from a dealership that it was traded into by the original owner. It was a V6 with 26,000 KM"s on it. At around 45,000 I got some bad gas and ended up putting a hole in #1 & 6 cylinders. This didn't really upset me because I always wanted to put a V8 in it. Now it has a moreless stock 350. I also added a Turbo 350 trans w/shift kit, 3:73 Limited Slip Diff, Headers & 2/12" dual exhaust. Its been a great car with about 70,000 KM on it now.
Just last week I purchased my 2nd G-body. I found the 81 Lemans just a few minutes from my house. Its a 1 owner V6 Car with 55,000 KM's on it. Its also still wearing its original paint and interior. Only thing it really needed was a real good detailing which I am presently working on.
Here are a couple pic's of my 2 G-bodys, hopefully you all enjoy. The 81 pic's were taken as soon as I got it home. Its looking alittle better now (even though it looked pretty good then too) but more pic's will be coming.
I plan to leave the 81 as stock as possible other then adding some factory options like AM/FM Cassette, Gauge package, maybe rally wheels, and front air dam. Other then that its VERY enjoyable driving an original car with good fuel milage for a change.
Guess thats all for now......I plan to post some more pictures, ask some questions, look for some parts and meet some great people.
