Hello,

I have a Willys Wagon that was mounted on '78 Cutlass wagon frame with a 231 and 200 transmission.
The 231 unfortunately has a dead cylinder, so I will be considering options to re-power the wagon while I go through all of the systems to restore the vehicle.

Well, the wagon has a 2" chop and sits pretty low on the frame, but that could be an option.
I actually have a 252 that I posted a question about in the Engine/Swap forum.

Sounds like a cool project. What are your plans for it?

First and foremost is to restore her to running condition; the PO's father-in-law (Gary) waited years to see her back in running condition. So, I would like to reward him for his time safeguarding the vehicle, he knew she needed a proper restoration to be fully appreciated.

My thoughts is that she should stay a crusier at heart.

Now as the 3.8L is a relative of the same tooling once owned by Willys, I have considered staying with a 3800 motor. The '95 Firebird had the 3800 in RWD, not sure of other years/models, but I might do a full swap of that type of drivetrain and systems. I understand that the VATS has to be dealt with and the ECM re-programmed, so I would have to wait until down the road when I find a donor vehicle for that type of swap.

I am currently working to pull the original motor and transmission. Once I have that done and am able to upload pics, I will start a build thread for Gary and everyone else to follow the progress.

Sounds like a cool project. I'd love to see some pics of it.
If I recall correctly, Buick nailhead V-8's were commonly swapped in those vehicles back in the day. In fact, I knew a guy that had one with a Buick nailhead in it. Of course, they used the stock Willys chassis.

Welcome & we need Pictures!

Today, I finished pulling the 3.8L out of the wagon, so I updated the first post with pics.
I am going to make the build thread now.
