Anyone know what weight gear oil I'm supposed to use in my rearend? It's an 8.5" 3.42 posi. out of a '84 Grand National. Any info would be helpful thanks.

Man that Cutty looks mean as f*ck!! On my G Nat rear (posi and 373's) I used Valvoline 75w-90 and some posi "chatter" additive. After a short "break in" I'm draining that and adding some Amsoil "Sever Gear" 75w-90 full synthetic gear oil and some "Slip-Loc" posi chatter additive.

I cant remember the additive I used for the break in. I hit Napa up and asked. But whatever brand you go with, You will need the posi "anti chatter" additive. Here's a link to the Synthetic I have..

if you use redline synth gear oil you don't need the additive. for an 8.5 you can use the regular. if it was a 7.5 i'd go with the heavy duty.

Valvoline sells a 75-90 that has the limited slip additive already in it.
