Hi all! I'm building a rear end (my first one) and would like some opinions on the pattern I am getting. This is a 7.5" 10 bolt, I know they are weak I got the housing, limited slip carrier and gear set for free out of a parts car that was given to me. The gear set is a Richmond, and their website shows a backlash tolerance of 0.008" + 0.004" -0, backlash right now is at 0.011". The pinion currently has a 0.040" shim in it. Would you run with this pattern? If not should I add more or take out some shim? Thanks!

Doesn't look too bad. Better to be closer to the toe than heel of the gear. See if you can tighten up the backlash a little. Don't be surprised if it howls a bit. I've never seen a used set of gears that didn't. My rearend is much like yours with all used parts from different cars. My final pattern was almost picture perfect but at 45-50mph it sings. It's gotten quieter since I first put it together but won't ever go away.

You wont have a prob with that pattern, drive and coast look good. Tighten up the backlast to at least .006"
