I've been trying to get the paint back looking good on my 81 Lemans. When the lady purchase in from day one she had some parmabuff protection done and they told her not to ever wax it or go through car washes. Well.....27 yrs later I'm the lucky one to want to make it shine again 🙂 Just wondering if anyone has had success and is willing to pass on their secrets. I have Used Meguiars Medium Cut Cleaner with a buffer and its just not doing the job. It might be too late but I am not ready to throw in the towel 🙂
Thanks
Matt K.

armor all wash n wax works good and this stuff called 'ice' i forget the brand. both of them work great and give the car anice little shine to it lol

my 87 Cutlass was severely faded. i ended up using an orbital buffer. it was a 3 step process. 1-use turtle wax red rubbing compound. do it for a while and wip it off. it will look very scratched up and faded, but this is normal. 2-use turtle wax white polishing compund and it will restore a little bit of the shine. 3-use meguires mirror glaze. it will completely restore the shine to brand new. a good buff should help it out

Get a soft sanding block and some 1500 grit paper, followed by 2000 grit paper to cut down the thick oxidation. If the car is really bad, start with 1,000 grit paper. Sand only in one direction as not to cause swirls. Then buff and glaze it. Just be careful not to sand too near the edges unless you plan on doing these parts by hand. Your success will depend on how faded it is, and what color it is. Metallics are harder to make good, while white is about the easiest.

Not sure if I wanna wet snad it, my father keeps telling me to do that. The car looks AMAZING in the garage but when I pull it outside its like.....I have wasted 8 hours and got nothing done HAHAHA. Actually I shouldn't say that. It looks great from about a foot away (which is where I want people to stand anyways HAHA) but when you get close you can still see lots of stains and its still alittle hazzy. Friend thought Turtle Wax was a good idea but haven't tried it yet.

Oh ya.....the car is (not sure the exact name haven't researched it enough) but its Maroon in colour 🙂 Picture is before any waxing has been done
