is anybody farmiliar with glasstek bolt on hoods? they are a bit cheaper then harwood and other companies, and i ehar they are better too. i was looking for a 4'' bolt on.

also, on glasstek's website they offer black fiberglass front and rear bumpers to replace the heavy chrome bumpers on my cutlass.

does anybody have experience with these? they would save weight, and the hassel of prepping and painting my chrome bumpers which i was going to do anyway. i was just wondering if these are ready for paint, and also wondering how they actually look, the site doesnt have any pictures.

I bought a 4'' cowl from them for my cutlass, it wasn't ready for paint needed very little prep work though.
It looks great and is built well, but you can't use the existing clock springs on the old hood they said it could crack it.
As far as the bumpers go I asked them about them when i was there and they have no reinforcement in them just fiberglass shells if you will. They recommend not to use for street cars because of safety. I think i have pics of what it looked like when i picked it up. I"ll post them when i find them. Hope this helps

I have had my hood for two years and no cracks yet. Everyone in my car club runs a glasstek hood I dont know anyone that doesn't, sorry to hear about the one that cracked. Everyone I know that has a glasstek hood has had no problems with cracking, like I said before the company highly recommends not to use the clock springs specifically on gbodys . They recommend installing a prop rod to hold hood up otherwise clock springs will crack hood(even though it is a bolt on hood)The tension from the springs is what damages hoods I have seen it before. Either way harwood or glasstek is a good choice and from my experience I would recommend glasstek to anyone. Also, we mainly use glasstek here because its local and we can go pick the hoods up cheaper than shipping that puppy. Hope I could help in your decision.

im probably going to go with the glasstek hood.

and yeah, can you post pictures of the bumpers? if they have no support, maybe i could fab up a support bracket on each side. the car would be driven on the street, but only every now and then. i woudl like to see how it looks though, if it would be worth it or not.

thanks
