Has anybody tackled this job?

I know mine broke on my driver seat and I just ordered a new one waiting on it to arrive.

Any tips or tricks?

GM part #20614175 if there is any confusion on what part im talking about.

If you are talking about the coupling between the motor and the rails, it's a pretty easy job. Just a bunch of bolts, etc to R&R. IIRC, you unbolt one side of the seat rails, and everything sort of slides off. On the one I took apart, the back/front gear had stripped out a bit, but they are interchangeable with the other gears, so I swapped it for the back tilt, which wasn't used much. These seats are pretty common in the Pick and pull, and it's not that had to remove the part you need, once you know how to get into them.

Im talking about the plastic coupling that spins when the motor engages, does the seat have to come out? Can I do this while the seat is bolted in the car?

I think your seat will have to come out. I've only done one, and I took the seat out to do it. It's only 4 bolts, and sure makes working on it easier.

I just sled that piece in to place without taking anything out very easy and tons in the junk yard from different GM cars, I went thru a few of those now I'm going to make
One out of aluminum oval stock from Menard with two set screws. 😀
