I'm sure this question has popped up a lot in the past, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. As a side project I decided to build up my original 231 from my 87 regal limited NA. I want to make it into a GN motor, so I bought what was said to be a turbo crankshaft from a guy, but I just can't tell if it has the rolled fillets. The fillet areas look very similar to the one that I pulled out of my regal motor, do any of the NA regal limited's have turbo cranks, or is that just impossible? Or is there another way to tell, because I observed the holes on the journals of the turbo crank to be bigger, and I think one of the ID #'s is different, but can't tell.
Thanks,

I answered this once before but anyway if you look on both the mains and rod journal you will notice a half moon groove cut right next to where the bearing would sit on both sides of bearing area. It is possible for your na motor to have a turbo crank due to mass production and at that time it was around the end of tge era for rwd gbody plateform so gm through whatever they had laying around to make it work. If you check casting numbers they are sometimes the same so that wont get you anywhere. Without rolled fillets on both at least in uncut form it just a na crank. If crank has been cut a few times they will be gone. You can run a na crank in a turbo motor i have a few buddies running 11's on na crank one is even going tens. Dont beat yourself up about the crank.

On another note i hope you did all your research because its going to take a boat load of $$$$ to convert your na car to turbo setup. The parts needed to do it right will run you thousand. Its way cheaper to build a v8 or find a wrecked tb with all parts needed. Brackets, engine wireing harness, under dash harness, gas tank , fuel lines, intercooler , intake, computer just to name a few. Just them parts alone could cost you 1500-2k+ and that not includeing the turbo and sensors etc. Not knocking you, but i been there started building a old cutlass with a tb found it to expensive so i bought a gn roller needing a motor.

If you want a naturally aspirated crank to live in a turbo car the consensus seems to be to limit it to high 11 second ETs.

Agreed. Even a turbo crank has its limits you basically have to desided how fast you want yo go.

Thanks guys, I looked over and over and I must have two turbo cranks. As far as the motor, I am getting it machined and installing the rotating assembly before selling, I am not putting it back into my car.
