Levittown? Not my area. I know of one good Lee Myles shop near me that did the rear gears in a buddies '77 TA. They do good transmission work too.
Oh thats cool. I remember you saying you were not far but that's cool you have 2 shops. I guess I'm looking for a little of both really. The work i want to do on my Cutlass would be more along the lines of an engine and transmission install and rear end work. I have a 403 and 200-4r that were put into and came out of a running 86 442. I have been collecting the parts to install it into my car but realize that trying to do that on my own in my sloped driveway may not be the best idea. Having someone that does/is familiar with that kind of stuff is what im looking for. Please share the info as I would definitely like to contact you/the shops in the future.I am not far from you. I have 2 shops
You want good mechanic or good mechanic/race car hot rod shop?
Awesome thank you for them info. I will most likely do the rear first as its probably the quickest job and will be an improvement even with the stock 307. The engine and trans will definitely be a longer process. It is the Lee Myles Auto Care and Transmissions at 201- 06 Hillside Ave. Hollis NY. I don't know anyone who will do engine swaps and that sort of thing. That can be very time consuming and go off the rails easily. They don't want a car stuck there waiting for some incompatibility issues to be resolved.
Absolutely. Best bang for the buck. Rear gears are key to letting an engine flex it's muscles. Often the stock engine becomes desirable once the gears are changed.an improvement even with the stock 307.
