Ok so i just got this car recently. Its somewhat ruff so i get into my car the other day after a few good days of rain and notice that the floor pan on the passenger side is soaked. So im thinking its coming from the door leaking down the front part of it and just leaking it. But was just wondering if there is any other common leaks i need to look out for that could cause this? Might be coming from the firewall? any info would help thanks

umm ya the same thing happens in my cutlass just on the assanger side, im pretty sure its coming from the heater vents or something?

Check for sweet smell(antifreeze) or green color, then your gonna need a heater core,if not i've seen a few leak from the gasket that holds the whole heater/ac assembly in that would be your problem.

well i know the a/c is not hooked up at all. But i looked under the dash of the vehicle and i didnt feel anything wet or moisture but the floorboard was wet. But the door or my regal seems not to be sealing all the way. not sure yet i think im gonna take it to a car wash tomorrow and see where this water is leaking from.

thanks warpig

Ok try this, put something down like white newspaper or something and run the car,i really think your door isnt leaking but your heater core by what your saying,if im right when you drive the car it will drip on the paper(from the core which is basically above the glovebox)

leak

You might want to try taking your door panel off when you try soaking it with water, if your outer window seals are shot water will get inside the door and leak out soaking your floor board also. In those years they also had a problem with inner door seals.

update....i sealed the rust hole on the body of the car where the door meets up when its shut and thought it might be it.......well was right and wrong. The water seem to me not as bad although still there. So....as i investigate futher i notice a small drip behind my glovebox on the wall so i pull the panel and along that wall on the seam there is water getting threw there as well.... gonna seal it up and see if we cant elmintate all of this. I dont belive its my heatercore? Im not loosing any water nor does it have a green tint to it. Has someone else has this problem? It rains alot here in seattle so im finding allllllll the leaks at once. I can deal with mechanical no problem lol but man i hate water leaks. Leaks = rust. Thanks for input

Since you said there is no green the only 2 it could be comming behind the glove box is the windshield(sorry forgot) or the heater box seal. The only way i can think to narrow it down take a hose and power spray the heaterbox and see if that leaks or visa versa go around your windshield and check until it leaks..gotta find it that will rust your buggy out..

The ultimate way to find it would be to remove the dash and sit in it during a rain storm. This is not for the faint hearted though as it is a big job getting it out if you don't know how it comes out.

o.k. the common leak for these cars is where the heater box is sealed to the fire wall. I live in rainy b.c. and I see quite a few the other common leak is when the sun roof cars get plugged roof drains, often from pine needles and shiiit @ my work we have a machine called a perimetre machine you run the car with the heater cranked and with the drivers window partway down there is a adapter that allow you to presurize the entire car you then just use soap and water to find the leaks. The perimetre machine is just a large volume compressor and most interior shops and some mechanical shops have them.
