Excited beyond words, while taking some time away from my Cutlass build to complete all those life tasks that are so nice to get done during the summer i got something thats kind of rare, a second chance at my old El Camino. Some of you might remember that several years back i sold the El Camino that is in my profile picture for extra money when i bought my house, well by luck and chance i came across the add on FB Marketplace (which i never use) that it was for sale. I paid too much, the rust on the quarters is getting pretty bad but for $3000 its got a lot of new parts, runs and drives sort of, and hes throwing in a heat only box, bored sbc, and some other random parts. I was going to pass on it simply for the price and rust until my wife told me that i would regret it if i didnt so pay it to get my old car back and call it a day, so i did and happy to see it back in the driveway. At least ill have a Gbody to cruise around while my cutlass undergoes its final steps this winter.

Glad to hear it! If I could have the opportunity to buy one or two of my old rides, I would probably jump on it even if it was a little high...

Speaking of High... Who in their right mind puts an old rusty-assed water pump on such a nice looking engine?

Yeah there are several things on this that make me shake my head, had a lot of good intentions but not much follow through. The majority of the parts seem to be cheap autozone duralast junk. The task will be sorting through all the crap. I took the old fan shroud off as soon as i got home and mocked up a olds radiator hold down so it wouldnt look so odd with an electric fan and stock fan shroud.

Glad to see that you've reunited with an old friend, Josh. Sounds like you had regrets letting it go in the first place. It was obviously meant to be that you found it again and was given the chance to buy it back.

Frame and body mounts still in good condition?

Frame seems good with the exception of right back where the bumper bolts on i noticed the very bottom has some issues but a very small area so thats livable. The body mounts on the other hand are another story, when i got the car home and jacked it up to do my usual assessment of things that needed attention i noticed that one half of the body was not bolted down. The entire passenger side had no bolts or lower sections of the mounts. I remember when i sold the car i gave the guy the solid mount kit and bolts and i guess he never put them in and was driving it like that.

Oh i had instant regrets on selling it, although i knew it was the right thing to do to get the family a new house of course it still sucked at the time. I was thinking the same thing that it must have been meant to be that i got it back. Ive always had a 79 el camino since i was 17, always in blue, and always with a blue interior. This was the third of such vehicles and even though its kind of a piece of steaming sh*t its mine again

So the guy i got the el camino back from stopped to drop off some stuff for it and i got this little camper shell. At first i didnt know how i felt about it but i think after it gets painted the dark blue top body color this will be a cool little thing to have around.
