I'm considering using a GPS tracking system for my car when its finished just for some piece of mind. Doing a search online you come up with a TON of different websites with GPS tracking products. However I don't know which are reputable and which aren't.

Anyone have any experience with these? What's a good brand name product to go with?

Thanks,

all i can think of is lo-jack. sry, drunk and what-not

Yeah, I know about Lojack but I'm looking for something I can install and don't need to take the car to a shop so their "technician" can screw around with it.
With all of my car security I want to do everything myself that way I'm the only one that really knows how its installed, where, etc. 😉

well i think you can buy the unit and then id try and get it IN the frame and maybe box it in while yer there. that way the frame is the antenna or something.

I should be an expert by now, having researched vehicle security for so many years since mine was stolen. However, there are GPS tracking systems that are widely used, such as Lojack, known as Boomerang Tracking, but their service is not all it's cracked up to be. Provided their systems work as it should, if your car does get stolen and once they verify it with you directly, YOU have file a report with the police BEFORE they take any action. Once the police get the report done (which could take HOURS) then they wait for the police to contact them, and they work together to locate/track the car. Quite frankly, this service sucks. I've found hundreds of users whose cars were stolen and never recovered because all this red tape crap.

Best thing to do is find a device you can install yourself and can track you car in real time. Some more research is in order here. Track it down yourself if it's stolen. Don't rely on the police or the so called "service". Keep weapon handy.

Great idea beermonkey9417!

I'm in the same boat as you FE3X CLONE. Keep me posted on your findings. Looking around myself.
