i was looking for parts at a local junkyard for my trans am resto and stumbled on a 87 grand prix which was in a barn on the grounds of the yard. i had illusions of sleeper and bought it.frame and floors are solid due to rustproofing ,bottoms of both doors have rust as some around trunk lid.trunk pan is solid without any holes.engine is a 4.3 ,was knocking when put in the barn approx 6 years ago and a 4 speed auto with posi rear.i plan on installing a modified 71 400 . any info i need a heads up on?

i am getting the engine and frame mounts out of a 80 lemans.
installing d port factory headers
upgrade rear to olds/buick 8 .5

any other info would be appreicated...thanks

Welcome to the site. Where at in PA are you from? I'm in Altoona.

As an FYI, you already have some of the correct pieces if you are planning on a Chevy small block. What does your 80 Lemans have for an engine?

The 4.3L V6 (I assume TBI?) will have the right motor mounts, you just need to move them up. If you go to the Engines/Swaps forum (http://www.gbodyforum.com/viewforum.php?f=13) you will find 3 stickies on engine swaps. The one I wrote his a "How To" with pictures on the motor mount. Also, you have the correct fuel tank/sender if you ever decide on a TPI/TBI setup. There's a sticky on that too.

I took him to mean the 71 400 was a Pontiac 400, so if the 80 Lemans is a 301, should bolt right up.

Good's transmission? I may have called you at one time about a 2001 Dodge Dakota, that I used to own. I ended up getting a semi-warranty deal on it....$800 to replace cracked valve body. I live in the Juniata section of Altoona.
