Im trying to gather all the parts I need to do my 5.3 swap into my 79 cutlass. Ive searched but all I could find out is that the f body/corvette manifolds will work. I have the chance to get some GTO manifolds for a reasonable price, so I was wondering if anyone has tried them and worked. Im going carbed, I bought swap plates off ebay(1"setback), have car clamshells, 87 Monte SS frame mounts, TH400 with stepdown bushing/adapter. I also read that going carbed with stock cam wont work well, did I read right or can I get away with it? Im trying to keep it as cheap as possible and get it going by early spring.

Thanks in advance for the help. This site is has pretty much answered all the questions Ive had so far except those.

I have been told that GTO manifolds will work. I would definally change cams if running a carb setup. The wide LSA of the fuel injection cam will not play well with a carb setup. Edelbrock makes carb friendly cams http://edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/ ... _ls1.shtml. You want a cam in the 110 lsa range. You can use stock push rods with them and a set of ls6 valve springs.

Thanks for the reply. I guess Ill go ahead and get the manifolds. And I guess ill have to find me a new cam too!
