Gymkhana 2020

Travis is one of our local heroes, even though the county doesn't approve of his antics. The water is referred to as "Ego Alley" aka: the City Dock in Annapolis. I've cruised through there with my buddy in his old Power Quest; it's where all the rich d!cks hang out in the summer. I haven't watched it yet, but I am familiar with the area. Those streets are T-I-G-H-T!!!!

I do enjoy the Gymkhana vids, but I wouldn't insult them by calling them "drifting". AFAIC, drifting is pointless; this shows skill.

I didn't say "easy"; I said "pointless". But, to me, it looks like randomly powersliding around a track. That's probably the quickest ol' TP ever got home from downtown. Hanging the tire off the dock was a nice touch.

You mentioned the vid shows skill, kinda implied drifting doesn't require it. Don't get me wrong, it's not my cup of tea either, it's an entirely unique skillset and car setup and its point is just showboating really.

The whole idea of Gymkhana is to mix drifting and rally cross. Makes for an awesome show.

When I've done it before it was just a really tight autocross. It didn't involve drifting per se, but rotating the car around a super tight radius by breaking the rear end loose was the faster way to go. Mind you nobody was hanging it out in 2nd or 3rd gear.

You ever tried drifting? Not just randomly power sliding but actual drifting? It's anything but easy.

Just 6 months of the year. Every year.

canada deal with it GIF

I was watching D1 events before it made it mainstream.

On topic: The video was pretty good, I pooped a little when he dropped the left rear tire off the dock. Thank God for AWD!

All about the car:

While it would be neat to see him do this in a G-body, which would be more, shall we say, "sphincter-clenching", there's no way the suspension could take that abuse no matter how modded. Of course, in any G-body, the first time he turned the wheel he'd be wrapped around the tree and the video would only be 30 seconds long.

It was a fun video. I think he pooped a little too when that wheel went off the dock. After that, he didn't try no more circle 'round the forklift as he just straightened it out and got on out of there. 🙂

Crazy mo fo fo sho.
