Recently purchased an '81 grand prix for $1500. Originally came with a 6 banger, but someone has stuck a 350 chevy in it. Butchered the wireing all to hell. Right now I am doing all the minor stuff I can. Any one no what I would need to change the transmission to a 700R4 and what kind of problems will I run into? Also what other GM vehicles can I pirate parts from such as disc brakes for the rear and maybe a posi rear end.
Have many questions about 81 Grand prix.

You'll need a new crossmember and a shortened driveshaft to run a 700-R4... A 200-4R might be something to look in to.
S-10's are a good resource for a 7.5" posi carrier. Look for one that will accept your 26 spline axles, or use it as a good opportunity to upgrade to 28s.

i believe any 82 -92 not sure about newer than that. maybe some one else can chime in. and yes they would work on a regallayedoutregal said:
